Proposed Today Versus Proposal for Exploration of Energy

According to their announcement, the protest rally will take place today by 1600. The gathering point is designed to be close to the KEDS facility, while the march will continue until the Kosovo Government building.

“since 2022, electricity bills are raised to an annual basis. KEDS demands an increase in bills, while ZRE, as if it were their nurse, approved every request at the expense of the people. Today Kosovo's citizens do not pay only the cost of electricity: we pay for KED's losses, we pay for their mismanagement, we pay for their endless thirst and for any mistakes they make, all to make sure that their pockets continue to stick to our backs. In exchange for us we still spend days without electricity, with abundant nonforinization, without winter heat and constant expensiveness in every aspect of our lives as a result of increased current prices. After the 16.1% increase that became predatorically from ZRE last year, even this year is warning us of another theft, now around 20%. This next trick is again uniting public and private institutions that, in order to enrich KEDS, are turning the whip on us, to skin us to the last cent”, it is written in their announcement.

Their response also reportedly that KEDS's successive demands for priced tariffs were approved by the Energy Regulatory Office ( ZRGE), shifting the financial burden to consumers.

 

 

“KEDS continues to gather the fruits of KEK/workers working night and day to produce the current that it buys very cheaply and sells us multiplely. Besides continuing to exploit the public asset and the work and dignity of KEK's workers, KEDS, repeatedly assisted by ZRE, is trying to make us worse.

This recurring warning is outright extortion. Persistent/a and determined/to defend ourselves and our well-being against the privates and its state servants, we are organized and opposed to victory. So, we call for protest this Friday, 3:00 in front of KED office, so that a voice may be called to stop this multi-year-old robbery. Recognitioning that KED's thirst towards citizens' money will not automatically fade away we demand that: To be rejected, without any uncertainty, KED's demand for price hikes. Start the process of restoring KED into public hands. ( Union requirements) We invite all citizens of Kosovo to join us in protest. Together, we can stop eligibility of KEDS, and restore it to the hands of the people of Kosovo!”, the announcement said.
