“18 years ago, Kosovo was raised from suffering to dignity, from resistance to citizenship, thus testifying that freedom earned by sacrifice is eternal. 18 years ago, Kosovo was declared a free, independent and sovereign state, ending a long and painful journey, but also opening a new chapter of our national history. It is the heart of national resistance and the response of a people oppressed by the genocide regime. This war was always just, always clean, and always necessary. Any attempt to tarnish it, to equate the victim with the aggressor, is not only unfair but also historically false and unacceptable. KLA leaders who are currently in The Hague, along with thousands of other fighters, rose for freedom, dignity and the right to free living. The KLA war was our strongest pillar of resistance and hope”, the country's first said.
