Fire out of control: Nearly 200 thousand people in France, 6,000 in Spain, are forced to flee some regions

About 57 thousand residents were evacuated overnight to the Gironde region, bringing the total number of evacuations to the area to 167 thousand.

Meanwhile, another 30,000 persons have been evacuated from the Landes region.

According to the Interior Ministry, the total number of evacuated persons across France has reached about 197 thousand.

Firefighters are facing difficulties in trying to extinguish the major fires that have engulfed France and Spain. Near the city of Bordeaux, nearly 200 thousand people have been evacuated from their homes.

The French army is committed to helping combat fire in the country's southwest. Mass evacuation of residents caused major traffic jams during the night.

In Spain, the number of displaced persons has exceeded 60 thousand. A local official said efforts to control the fires near Madrid are “beyond fire capacity”.

Weather conditions have created ideal circumstances for fires to erupt and spread rapidly. According to the leading meteorologist, these very conditions have affected the deteriorating situation this time.
