Kurti commemorates the Mitrovica massacre, doesn't mention trigger Oliver Ivanovic, who he himself declared a hero.

On the 26th anniversary of the Fright Night in northern Mitrovica, when the bridge's leadings had killed ten Albanians, among them children, women and elders, Kosovo's acting prime minister, Albin Kurti, reminded victims of the February 2000 violence, focusing on expelled families and killed during those tragic events, [...]

In his post, Kurti did not mention specific individuals from the Serb community, including Oliver Ivanoviqi, who in the past was described as “hero” for his role in local policy and stability in northern Mitrovica.

“26 years ago, on the night between February 3rd and 4th of 2000, Serbia's state through police and the paramilitary group “The heads of the Bridge” conducted ethnic cleansing in the northern area of Mitrovica by local Albanian residents. Under threat of weapons and death that night, thousands of Albanians were violently expelled from their homes south of the Iber River.”, Kurt wrote on his Facebook post.

Full Posting:

26 years ago, on the night between February 3rd and 4th of 2000, the state of Serbia through police and paramilitary criminal group “The guards of the” bridge conducted ethnic cleansing in the northern area of the town of Mitrovica by local Albanian residents. Under threat of weapons and death that night, thousands of Albanians were violently expelled from their homes to the south of the Iber River.

During this Serbian-run criminal action, ten Albanians were killed and 25 other citizens of Mitrovica were injured. Today, 26 years later, we remember with pain and honor the slain of that night: Nezir Voca, Shqira Voca, Niman Sejdiu, Bashkim Rrukeci, Sebika Abashi, Selime Berisha, Muharrem Sokoli, Honor Ajeti, Nerian Jaka and Remzije Canhasi. They were 13 years old, up to 65 years old.

Just seven months after Kosovo's liberation and the rescue of Albanians from ethnic cleansing and the genocide exercised and executed by the state of Serbia, the only part of Kosovo that had not yet been fully liberated, so Mitrovica, was ethnically cleansed by the state of Serbia. Despite the widespread presence in Kosovo of military peacekeeping forces and international administration during February 2000, through its security facilities, Serbia managed to expel from Mitrovica, 1564 Albanian families with a total of 11364 members.

But it will still take time for justice to be fully established. As time will take, many state care and interhuman solidarity, for victims of this ethnic cleansing to be rehabilitated by the damage and losses suffered 26 years ago and the consequences of them from then on until now.

During the next two decades, these thousands of Albanian citizens expelled from Mitrovica during February 2000 lived as they could without returning to their homes and properties. In recent years alone, after the extension of state sovereignty, rule of law and control of territory by the democratic government of the Republic of Kosovo, the return of those thousands of occupants to their usurped homes and properties has begun. Over 150 houses have been built and rebuilt in Kosovo's four northern municipalities, only in the past four years. Among the citizens who have benefited from Kosovo Government investments in this direction is Mustafe Behram, who returned in 2024 to live with his wife and three children in one of the houses built by the Government of Kosovo.

Also, since the city of Mitrovica was once ethnically cleared of the expulsion of local Albanians, it now lives together and freely to all Kosovo citizens, without ethnic differences -- Albanians, Serbs, Bosniaks, Roma, Turks and others. That is because the Kosovo government and local institutions in Mitrovica are engaged in justice, equality, legitimacy, order and rule of law, since the state of Kosovo is a democratic country that does not discriminate against anyone over any differences and treats them all equally.

The people and the state of Kosovo never forget anything or anyone, ever!

Any action over the past five years of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in northern Mitrovica and northern Kosovo in general must be read by maintaining it in the background, the history of February 2000 events in Mitrovica, as much as the terrorist attack on Banjska with a view to annexation territory, on September 24, 2023.

So today, on the 26th anniversary of the beginning of the ethnic cleansing of the northern city of Mitrovica by the state of Serbia, we remember and honor the fallen, support the wounded and outcasts, for justice, for peace and for Kosovo's history and future. Forever!

VVI's hypocrisy today remembers the massacre of Albanians in the north where Kurti's éheroi) Oliver Ivanovic had literally
