According to Dogana's announcement, it has become known that a vehicle was selected for detailed control as it entered the country's territory.
“At first checked through X-ray scanning device (X-Ray), where the first indicators for the existence of a suspicious modified space on its floor have been identified. Following these indicators, Kosovo Customs has sought assistance from Border Police officials, who have provided technical support through fibroscopic equipment. During the joint search, allegations raised by scanners are confirmed with the discovery of undeclared monetary means hidden in an improvised space inside the vehicle. According to initial estimates, the amount of monetary means is allegedly to be around 1,000 thousand (a million) euros”, the statement said.
The fact is that Customs' investigative units are reportedly on the scene immediately. The competent prosecutor has been notified and, in co-ordination with him, further investigative action is being taken in line with legal authorisations.
Kosovo's “Dogana said that using advanced control technology, such as X-Ray scanners, remains one of the key tools for uncovering smuggling cases and preventing illegal financial activities”, the report said. /Periscopi
