The security situation in Kosovo remains calm, but at the same time fragile, at risk of erupting new tensions, KFOR Commander Major General Ozkan Ulutas has declared, stressing that numerous factors continue to make stability sensitive in the country.
Ulutashi, in an interview with the Serbian-language media in Kosovo-online, has cited some of the reasons why the situation in Kosovo has potential for outbursts of tensions, among other things he cites rhetoric from time to time irresponsible and the continued use of dezinformation.
“In general, the security situation in Kosovo remains calm, but at the same time fragile, with potential for outbreaks of new tensions. The reasons for this are numerous, including unresolved issues, occasional irresponsible rhetoric and continued use of dezinformation. Above all, there are challenges related to the progress of the normalisation process between Belgrade and Pristina, in the context of the dialogue facilitated by the European Union, which NATO fully supports. This is a framework in which open issues can be resolved and solutions to respect the rights of all communities, which is essential for sustainable security in Kosovo and regional stability”, Ulutashi said.
