Israel expected to build first data centre in Albania, details of 100ml euro project

Albania's first Datacenter is expected to be built soon by the Israeli company ADC.

The project, which will be built in a free trade zone near Tirana, is expected to cost around 100m euros and will be based on graphic processors, the Robin of Nvivia.

The data centre will provide an initial capacity of 32 megawatts, with the possibility of expanding to 100 megawatts.

ADC is owned jointly by the Happy Technology Company (80%), a company specialising in cyber security and computer technology owned by Roy Shaposhnik, Noah Frank, Shlomi Avni and Ittai Melchior; and the company DIT (20%), a data centre consultancy company, led by experts Zvika Friedman, Nir Poltorak and Dan Carmi.

The construction permit was approved within just 60 days. Free Trade Zone T The EDA, where the centre will be established, is still under construction, but the infrastructure for electricity supply has been set in advance. Also, the national electricity company is building a substation dedicated to the project, reports Globes.

The data centre will be supplied with green energy from hydroelectric sources, making it the unique project in the region for its green scale. Financially, The ADC has secured a credit line from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERZH) covering 75% of the cost of the project.

Even before construction is completed, the centre has provided three top clients -- the Albanian technology company Infosoft, a German stock company and a government client of Albania. Centre entrepreneurs see great potential growth with European and American clients seeking artificial intelligence processing centres supported by green energy, becoming an alternative to US centres, where there is a deadlock in the development of data centres and power plants.

Israeli relations have strengthened significantly in the past two years, especially after an Iranian cyber attack on Tirana in 2022, which prompted Albania to start using Israeli technology for the protection of government and private organisations. During the war in Gaza, relations between the countries were strengthened even more, with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama's visit to Israel.

Following the ceasefire agreement, Israeli company Elbit Systems signed a contract to supply artillery systems and fears to the Albanian Army. /Periscope.
