Decani chairman Bashkim Ramosaj's cabinet chief arrested

Recent developments in Decani have brought the election process back to focus in this municipality, following the arrest of Chairman of the cabinet of the Union President Ramosaj.

According to prosecution confirmation in Pec, Manjolla Shala has been detained for 48 hours at the order of the state prosecutor, under investigations related to irregularities in the voting process in Decani.

Within the legal deadline, it is expected to apply for ensuring its presence in criminal procedure.

In January, the results released after the recounting resulted that AAK candidate Hamdi Komoni was the one who had lost most votes not only within his own party, but also compared to the candidates of other parties in Decani.

The commission was removed 188 votes from the initial outcome, bringing the total to 3,336 votes after reflecting on the Central Election Commission system.

Both cases stem from the same election process in Decani and are linked to the same political subject, the AAK, which holds local power in this municipality.

Investigations launched following the investigation of irregularities during the recount are expected to clarify whether the margins in the vote have been the result of technical error or whether it comes to elements of criminal acts.
