Albanian top diplomat: Albania engages diplomaticly in protecting KLA war

Albania's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, has commented on the adoption of Albania's Parliament's declaration in defence of KLA leaders in The Hague.

Through a Facebook post, Spiropali said Albania's Parliament spoke unanimously of Kosovo's liberation war truth and the dignity of those who bore that historic burden.

It was a voice that came not only from the parliament hall, but from the memory of a nation that knows what it means to fight for freedom”, she wrote.

She added that the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs welcomes this declaration and is fully committed to its implementation at every international forum, with dignity, dedication and firm respect for historical truth.

The war of the Kosovo Liberation Army was not a dark chapter, but a light at a dark time for the entire Albanian nation. It was a struggle for survival, for dignity, and for the fundamental right of a people to live free on their land. This truth is not a matter of political interpretation; it is part of our collective conscience”, she stressed.

Similarly, the minister added that Albania stands near Kosovo, with full solidarity and in the belief that justice should be impartial, fair and in line with historical truth.

According to Spiropal, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs will take every diplomatic step to protect this truth, to challenge any attempt to equal the victim to the aggressor and ensure that the voice of Albania and Kosovo is clearly heard at every international table.

“Because Kosovo freedom is a common chapter of our history, and its dignity is the dignity of the entire Albanian nation”.
