Under the decision, Mujeci and another defendant, Mithat Ramadani, will be released on bail for a four-year trial period, during which they are forced not to violate the law and stay in touch with the Sproving Service.
By Time.net, the Court of Appeals in Tirana has decided to suspend the former Assamblist of the Pristina municipality, Besnik Mujec.
With the decision, Appeals reportedly has been sentenced for four years and eight months for Mujejcin to be replaced in parole and in contact with the Sproving Service.
The decision notes that Mujeci and the other defendant, Mithat Ramadani, may return to prison if they do not commit any other criminal acts during this period.
“Lane into effect of ruling No.3114, dated 26.12.2024 of the Tirana First Court of Jurydiction, with this change: Based on Article 59 of the Penal Code, suspending the execution of prison sentences and testing defendant Mithat Ramadani for a period of 4 (four) years. Based on Article 59 of the Penal Code, suspending the execution of a prison sentence, and testing defendant Besnik Mujeci for a period of four (four) years. The defendants are ordered to maintain contact with the test service. The immediate release of defendants Mithat Ramadani and Besnik Mujejci is ordered if no other legitimate causes” are held, the verdict says.
This decision has been taken after Mujeci's defence, represented by lawyer Marcel Ceausaj, had filed a complaint with the Court of Appeals, demanding the change of the trial handed down in December last year.
In the submitted complaint, Ceausaj had stressed that his client has suffered part of the sentence and that it is required to ease the measure by applying the provisions for suspending the execution of imprisonment.
A complaint against this ruling could be filed with the Supreme Court within 45 days of receiving the verdict's announcement.
Mujejci was sentenced by the Court of First Stairs in Tirana on December 26th 2024, to four years and eight months in prison, after being detained in a police operation in August 2023. where over 11,000 ecstasy tablets with brand “were seized Louis Vuitton”, worth over $400,000.
Media judge in Apel, Edlira Petri, has clarified that convicts who do not have Albanian citizenship, including Mujejci, are obliged to be in touch with the Sprovatory Service in Kosovo, the institution under the Justice Ministry. /Periscope/
