According to the first police reports, there is no evidence to indicate any technical defects on the bus or in the truck. The current investigation is focused on clarifying the reason why the bus driver failed to detect the vehicle ahead of time, which led to the strong collision with the back of the trailer. The driver, according to police sources, tried to divert left at the last moment, but the crash was inevitable, media reports German.
The accident injured 30 of the 41 passengers on the bus. Two of them are in serious hospital condition, while four others have been sent to clinics for further examinations.
The material damage caused by the impact is estimated at around 150,000 euros. The damaged bus has been pulled out of the scene, while the transportation company has reacted immediately by sending a replacement vehicle to the undamaged passengers. The truck involved in the accident was able to run to a nearby parking lot, where his cargo was then transferred to another vehicle.
Meanwhile, the highway to Munich was closed for about two hours to allow emergency operations and complete street cleanup.
