Germany's embassy in Kosovo has expressed “deeply concerned” with the Vetevendosje government's attempts to exploit the KSF's search-saving team at the Lake of Weman “to mark the political points”. The German Embassy noted that removing KFOR images from the Vetevendosje and Defence Ministry PR in the Government of Kosovo has presented fraudulent “narrative “and that such actions “constitute trust”.
Furthermore, Vetevendosje party statements for the first “, The KSF in the north”, the embassy called bad representation of KFOR's spirit of approval for the KSF team and condemned the removal of KFOR from images published by Vetevendosje as the fraudulent “ ”.
“Declarations of political actors that present this mission as the first “KSF north of Kosovo” misinterprets the purpose and spirit of deployment. Equally disturbing are the charges of concretely manipulated images, the removal of visible elements of KFOR association to promote a deceptive juncture. Such actions are at risk of undermining public confidence and distancing attention from the humanitarian focus of mission”.
Below the embassy's full statement:
The German Embassy is deeply concerned by efforts to politicise today's deployment of a specialised Research and Rescue team from the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) at Gazivoda Lake A KFOR facilitated operation in full compliance with its mandate and approved by KFOR Commander for humanitarian purposes only. The tragic loss of a young person's life should be a moment of collective grief, not a political case.
Statements of political actors that present this mission as “first operation of KSF north of Kosovo” misinterprets the goal and spirit of deployment. Equally disturbing are the charges of concretely manipulated images, the removal of visible elements of KFOR association to promote a deceptive juncture. Such actions are at risk of undermining public confidence and taking attention away from the humanitarian focus of the mission.
The German Embassy reiterates its full support for KFOR and its mandate, and expresses sincere gratitude to all KFOR and KSF personnel involved in today's recovery efforts. Professionalism and their cooperation serve public goods and serve as a reminder of what can be accomplished when institutions work together in the service of human dignity.
