The decision is based on the latest reports by the Authority for Food Security and Inspection (ADIS) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), which regularly report on the outbreaks of dangerous diseases in animals.
AUV spokesman, Lamir Thaci, disclosed in “Info Plus” in RTK that the Food and Veterinary Agency is taking all necessary legal measures in line with international mandate and regulations for trade and circulation of living animals and food products.
“We are imposing temporary prevention measures for all types of animals resulting from disease in countries where they are reported to relevant international organisations. In the concrete case, besides France, the same measures were taken for Italy, where the same disease was confirmed,” said.
According to him, stops are focused only on specific areas that are mentioned in official reports of ADIS and WHOH. He also announced that the plague outbreak has been identified in Albania, while in northern Macedonia, the disease of “Blue” has been recorded.
Thaci assured that AUV is monitoring the situation with increased vigilance and is taking all necessary actions to prevent the introduction of these diseases in Kosovo and to protect the health of animals.
Regarding the possibility of broadcasting these diseases on people, Thaci stressed that based on scientific data so far, there is no evidence that these diseases can affect people. However, he called for preventive measures, stressing that these are major economic impact diseases that could seriously harm the farmers' economy and the state.
The products on the official market are controlled and safe for consumption. On the contrary, they would not be allowed in the market,” said Thaci.
He urged citizens that, due to rising temperatures, be cautious and respect instructions to store food products at recommended temperatures marked on the label.
