The new project, which is still in early stages of development, will be based more on the original material of the legendary comic “2000 AD”, rather than on previous films.
The scenario will be written by Drew Pearce, known for the “The Fall Guy” and “Mission: Impossible
Pearce and Waiti, who are old friends and early comic fans, have long wanted to work together on such a project.
Judge Dredd, created in the late 1970s by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquera, is a judge of the future in the dystolic city of Mega-City One, where it operates simultaneously as police, jurists and executioners, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.
It has become a symbol of pop culture, with an inheritance that includes countless stories, games, books, and other media products.
The new film aims to bring a more fun, funny black version and a carefully built world with a view to opening a new film universe for Dredd.
In a recent interview, Waitt spoke openly about his experience with Marvel, confessing that he had not been passionate about “Thor” comics and that he had initially accepted the job for practical reasons.
