The arrest, according to the Backstage.com is the result of a lengthy investigation by Fier's Prosecutor, which identifies Kerron as one of the key persons in financial management of alleged illegal practices within the company.
According to sources from the investigative bodies, Kero is accused of playing a central role in manipulation of spending and using extinguishable bills in order to avoid the company's tax obligations. Preliminary investigations estimate that through these practices the state budget has been significantly damaged, while company revenues from the sale of oil in the Patos-Marinza area total about 4 billion euros in those two decades.
Authorities suspect that a considerable portion of the revenue has been obtained illegally and then used for investments in real estate and luxury expenses, both in and outside the country.
Under this investigation, several other senior directors of the company “Bankers Petroleum Albany”, including the current Hongping Xiao and former leader Leonidas Cobo, Qing Fang, Xingyun Sun, Suneel Krishan Gupta, Jonathan Paul Harris, Chang Jong Xu, Linang He and Feng Qin.
Investigations are under way, and further developments are expected in the coming days regarding this sensitive case that raises concerns about the way natural assets are managed and the implementation of fiscal laws in Albania.
