Abbas Kadhom Obama al-Fatlawi, the acting officer of the Iraq mission to the UN, told the council that the plane came from the Syrian-jornian border areas.
“One nine planes were launched, followed by 30 planes headed south of Iraq, and flew over the towns of Basra, Najaf and Qerbela”, he said.
“These violations are violations of international law and the UN Charter”, he said.
“They also pose a threat to sacred sites and regions, which can cause strong popular reactions, given the importance of these holy sites for our people”. /Periscope/
