Turkey discovers new gas reserves in the Black Sea, Erdogan: Just covering family needs for 3.5 years

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced a significant new natural gas discovery in the Black Sea. “With this discovery, we will meet the needs for Turkish families' natural gas for 3.5 years,” said Erdogan, naming the reserve a strategic achievement of around $30 billion, Reuters reports.

Currently, the daily production of natural gas in the Sakarya field has reached 9.5 million cubic metres, while Turkey continues to strengthen its energy positions through the development of local resources and international partnerships.

With this step, Ankara aims to reduce dependence on imports, which constitute over 90% of the country's energy consumption./Periscopi/
