In a post on the Turkish Social platform, Trump stressed the need for China to open its market for the US more, arguing that closed markets no longer function effectively. He added that the final decision will be made by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
This suggestion comes ahead of a planned meeting in Switzerland, where the possibility of lowering tariffs is expected to be discussed as part of efforts to break down trade tensions. In April, Trump had imposed 145% tariffs on Chinese products, causing a 21% decline in Chinese exports to the US and a 14% decline in American imports from China.
Meanwhile, Chinese exporters are preparing to resume remittances to the US, as they are beginning to reserve transportation spaces, hoping for a possible decrease in tariffs. Experts warn, however, that a quick solution may be impossible, taking into account the long duration of previous trade conflicts. /Periscope/
