Terras: New elections will be the best solution to solve the problem!

Vetevendosje Movement leader Albin Kurti must seriously consider achieving a coalition to create the new government. So said in an interview for Gazeta Express, the rapporteur for Kosovo in the European Parliament, Estonian politician Riho Terras, in Brussels, when asked about the political crisis where Kosovo is located. He has expressed [...]
I know it's hard, but we've seen in Germany that a great coalition is possible. We have seen it in other countries, such as Austria. So I think for the sake of progress. I don't think the new elections will be the best choice to solve the problem, because they're probably not going to solve the” problem, and it's taking Terras.
The rapporteur for Kosovo says the foundations of democratic processes are negotiations and finding a compromise, and that he prefers reaching a coalition rather than going to new elections.
Asked about Kuri's insistence on Albulen Hadziu's candidacy, though he is not providing votes in more than ten consecutive sessions, Terras says compromise is the basis of politics, and any who fail to do most must give up certain things.
I suggest compromise, but I still don't want to get involved in politics”, Terras added.
Regarding the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and co-operation with the new Danish emissary, Peter Sorensen, Terras has said he will meet with the latter soon and that he will discuss with him some ideas that he has related to how to move forward.
“will soon meet Ambassador Sorensen to discuss possible ways to start dialogue again. I have some ideas, but I have to discuss with the new emissary, to have a coherence..”, he declared Terras.
He has said that the two parliaments -- Kosovo and Serbia -- should be encouraged to have more co-operation and that he expects from the new emissary Sorensen to change certain things.
I haven't met Lajcak and I don't know what his ideas were, I'm new in the process. I'm sure the new sheriff in town will change some things. And I really hope we can postpone the dialogue forward. There's a lot of things that affect the process, but it's always good to speak”, Terras stressed.
Asked whether there could be progress without moving forward with the implementation of agreements, especially the Serbian Majority Commission Association, Terras has said Serbia has done many things in terms of implementation and “can only blame Kosovo”.
For the North and the way Kurt acted there, Terras says things could be done in a milder way.
For my taste there were a lot of police officers with long guns on the street, if you ask me”, Terras said and added that, however, he understands why Kurt did it.
I can understand why he's pushing forward, because you want to govern your own country and not for someone on the outside to pay salaries for your doctors. The Kosovo government must do more to help Kosovo's north be higher, that solves the problem, but this is not actually happening”, the Rapporteur for Kosovo has suggested.
Speaking of EU punitive measures against Kosovo, Terras has declared that they are unfair and unbalancing and that they must be removed as quickly as possible.
Terras, however, has clarified that the European Council's unanimous decision is needed for the removal of measures and that it does not see something like that happening.
The measures need a unanimous Council decision and I don't see anything like that on the horizon, there's no good news”, he has posted.
Terras has said that High Representative Kaya Kallas should take more initiative to remove measures against Kosovo, and that the European Commission should work harder on the issue of five non-EU states.
The European Parliament rapporteur has also spoken of Serbia's policy approach and the visit Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq has accomplished in Moscow at Vladimir Putin. According to Terras, by the way he is acting, Vuciq does not want to be part of Europe.
“Today, Kurt Vuciq travels to the May 9th Parade in Russia, I don't see that Serbs deserve all the interest that's taken.
We have for them. I don't think Vuciq wants to be part of the European Union”, Terras told Express.
According to Terras, European Council President Antonio Costa would not have to visit Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, two days after meeting Putin in Moscow, who for Terras is the biggest criminal in history. Estonian politician says Costa's visit is ridiculous and that Serbia must be sanctioned for the visit Vuciq made to Moscow.
At least Costa wouldn't have to visit Vuciki two days after he went to meet with the biggest criminal in history. He's the world's biggest criminal, and Vuchy visited him. Costa with this visit simply showed the world that the EU accepts Putin. This is ridiculous to me. I think there should be sanctions against Serbia for this”, Riho Terras has indicated.
Regarding media freedom and the latest Reporters Without Borders' report, where Kosovo has marked a decline for the second consecutive year, Terras has said Kurti must understand media freedom.
My “message is that freedom of the media is, of course, the precondition for demographic government and rule of law and precondition for joining the European Union”, has concluded the Rapporteur for Kosovo in the European Parliament, Riho Terras. /Periscope/
