Rizvanlo reacts to Bajram: ZRE decisions cannot be annulled or postponed through signatures

Acting Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli has reacted sharply to the idea of sharing 50m euros for subsidising large businesses, proposed by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and mentioned in public discussions on the positions of the Energy Regulatory Office ( ZREE). In a public statement, Rizvanolli stressed that the government [...]
In a public statement, Rizvanolli stressed that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo will not allow millions of euros from citizens' taxes to go to subsidise the consumption of electricity “1% of the most powerful corporations operating in Kosovo”.
“The LDK, perhaps even want to implement this policy, as they did during the pandemic, but that can be done only if they ever win elections”, Rizvanolli said.
It also criticised the ZRE for its lack of concentration in the analysis of real energy supply costs.
According to her, this institution should take the time to analyze in detail the factors that have contributed to the high cost of energy growth over the past year, including tenfold increase in transmission rates.
Rizvanlo also underlined that ZRE's decisions cannot be annulled or postponed through signatures or political statements, but only through legal ways in court.
The minister accused the LDK of blocking the Kosovo Parliament's constitution, which according to her has prevented ZRE reporting before MPs. Had they been worried about citizens, they wouldn't have blocked this process”, she added.
Rizvanolli assured that the Kurti Government will continue to stay close to local producers and that support for them will focus on easing the impact of energy market liberalisation on competitiveness and prices for citizens.
“For this we have worked and are working in all directions, and we will continue consultations with producers during the days and weeks following”, Rizvanolli concluded.
