One of the attacks hit Fahmi Al-Jargawi School in the town of Gaza, which served as a refuge for hundreds of people who had fled the northern town of Bayt Lahia, currently under an intensive offensive of the Israeli Army.
According to a Hamas-led Civil Protection spokesman in Gaza, the bodies of at least 20 victims, including children, have been recovered from the school building, many of whom were severely burned as the flames included classes turned into residential areas.
According to local reports, Mohammad Al-Kasih, the head of investigations into Hamas police north of Gaza, along with his wife and children, was among the victims.
Shortly before the attack on the school, another Israeli air strike hit an apartment in the central city of Gaza, leaving four other people dead, according to the Hamas-led health ministry.
