The Basic Prosecutor in Pristina, the Department for Crime in co-operation with the Economic Crime and Corruption Unit, respectively, has banned two people under suspicion of accepting bribery and exercise influence.
According to the prosecution's announcement, two public officials were detained at the prosecutor's decision on May 19th, after allegedly asking and accepting money from a candidate for the practical driving test in exchange for passing the test.
They are being investigated for criminal acts “taking bribes” according to Article 421 and “The exercise of influence” according to Article 424 of the Republic of Kosovo's Criminal Code. The prosecution has set the 48-hour ban on the two suspects, while further investigative and procedural actions are expected to be undertaken within the legal deadlines.
The Anti-economic Crime and Corruption Unit announces the public opinion that under its duties and responsibilities in fighting corruption and criminal acts against official office, on 1905.2025 has banned two persons under the prosecutor's decision because of criminal acts receiving bribes from Article 421 and the Article 424 exercise of the Republic of Kosovo's Penal Code.
The detained persons are public officials who are suspected that in order for the victim to pass the practical driving test, they have asked him for bribe money, which they have accepted and for the agreed amount, the candidate has passed the test.
Against the suspects, the 48-hour ban has been imposed, while within legal terms, the State Prosecutor will take the necessary procedural actions at collecting evidence”, the report says.
