Movement “FOL” Call VV) to halt pressure on journalists

Movement “FOL” through a communique for the media has expressed deep concern over the state of media freedom in Kosovo, which continues to deteriorate. “FOL” in response says the Reporters Without Borders report has placed Kosovo in the lowest rank since the post-war, marking a sharp decline in the global index [...]
“The FOL movement expresses deep concern for media freedom that is facing restrictions, lyncing and lack of transparency on the part of state institutions towards media and journalists, and re-remembers that media freedom is not only a legal obligation, but is one of the pillars of democracy, and as such should be preserved and respected by all institutions in the country”, it is said in response.
The FOL Movement has called on the Government of Kosovo and other institutions to ban any form of pressure, intervention against journalists and create a culture of co-operation with the media as partners for transparency and information of citizens.
“We also ask political leaders to show higher responsibility in promoting a disk that respects media freedom and its independence”, the report says.
On this day, we express our gratitude to all journalists, who in fulfillment of the journalism mission for fair and accurate information despite challenges, pressures or threats, continue to exercise their profession in a fine manner”, adds further “FOL”
The FOL movement has reminded public institutions that only through co-operation with the media can it build confidence with the public and strengthen democracy in Kosovo.
