Friday's incident in the north, police call news conference

Kosovo police will hold today a media conference regarding police actions on May 23rd in northern Mitrovica.

Police warned that Kosovo Police General Director Gazmend Hoxha will attend this conference.

The conference will begin between 1500 and the Pristina-based police station.

A manifestation of Serbian community seniors in the north caused incidents as there were provocations and calls such as “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia”.

Kosovo police have intervened with the request not to provoke so there are no crossings.

Acting Minister Jhelal Svecla has charged Serbian propaganda with this case.

Svechla said the police officials' request not to provoke is being represented as violence, while an action of a policeman seen asking a young man not to provoke him is presenting him as a relief.

“Here's what Serbian propaganda looks like: The police official's request that the group not provoke citizens so that the situation does not escape, they call it violence, and the deployment of the hand calls it narrowness. Their manifestations of extremism and chauvinism are called a holiday, and the red color with which they have colored different figures in their bodies tend to represent it as blood. Nothing new from them!”, he said.

Meanwhile, Serbian authorities have issued a warrant for an arrest Saturday for a Kosovo Police member in connection with a senior incident a day earlier in Serb-run northern Kosovo.

The news was disclosed by Serbia's Interior Minister Ivica Dacic.

Daciq said in a statement that Kosovo police officer Dulot Brahimi will be arrested as soon as he is available to the Serbian police, without any prescription, whenever that is possible”./Periscopi/
