Veliaj has written today from prison, where he has indicated that his ban was done unjustly and without justification.
The continuing “of this detention is not only an attack on me and my family, but is also an unnecessary and unproportional intervention in fulfilling the public duties entrusted to me by the citizens of Tirana. Despite my imprisonment, I remain firm. Each passing day strengthens my resolve. My commitment to Tirana, to you, to democracy, rule of law and the future of Albania remains steadfast”He wrote Veliaj.

Very dear friends,
Today there are 100 days of my imprisonment without any reasonable excuses. My unjust and arbitrary prohibition continues, although I am not accused of any criminal offense. As a result, I am strongly hampered by the exercise of my duties as Chairman-elect, by mass voting 3 times, in Tirana City Hall.
The continuation of this detention is not only an attack on me and my family, but it is also an unnecessary and unproportional intervention in fulfilling public duties entrusted to me by the citizens of Tirana. Despite my imprisonment, I remain firm. Each passing day strengthens my resolve. My commitment to Tirana, to you, to democracy, rule of law and the future of Albania remains steadfast.
I will continue to follow all legal ways to secure my release so that I can continue to serve our wonderful city as your mayor.
With love and love for each of you!
