The closure of parallel structures, the German Embassy: Actions that increase tensions do not contribute to lifting measures

Efforts to close parallel structures in the north are continuing, with the aim of restoring order and preventing the influence of illegal groups in Kosovo. Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Svecla has declared that Kosovo institutions will be the only ones to serve in Kosovo. All [...]
Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Svecla has declared that Kosovo institutions will be the only ones to serve in Kosovo.
All police shares in the closure of parallel institutions are also being closely conveyed by the German Embassy in Kosovo.
In a response to Telegrafi, from this embassy stress that the immediate closure of these institutions negatively affects the daily life of Serbs.
We are closely monitoring these developments and gathering further details about the nature and circumstances of these actions. While official reports claim that operations continued without incident, other reports present a glimpse of a tense situation on the ground. In co-ordination with our partners, we have repeatedly stressed that the immediate closure of these institutions negatively affects the daily life of Kosovo Serbs and other non-communist communities”, their response is highlighted.
Also, the German Embassy stresses that “is essential to adopt a comprehensive approach that not only includes all affected communities, but also provides for the creation of alternative sustainable structures that serve the interests of all”.
The German Embassy also expresses their concern that such police operations could deepen tensions.
They have also mentioned the president of the European Council, who has confirmed that the removal of the measures is linked to de-progress in the north.
“We are concerned that such police operations risk deepening local tensions and undermine efforts to win the hearts and minds of the affected. As European Council President Antonio Costa stressed yesterday, the removal of measures is related to de- escalation in the north. At this critical moment, actions that further increase tensions are counterproductive and do not contribute to the removal of” measures, the German Embassy have declared.
Finally in the north, illegal activity of parallel structures in Zubin Potok's Water Factory has been interrupted, at the request of the Ministry of Economy's Public Enterprise Monitoring Unit.
It has also become owned by the Northern Mitrovica municipality, which so far was exploited by parallel structures, by the so-called Sports Office, Youth and Specialised Services, respectively. Also, a similar action was conducted at the water pump station in the North Mitrovica village of Suhodol.
Otherwise, on Wednesday in Kosovo, European Council President Antonio Costa has remained. He has also spoken of sanctions imposed on Kosovo.
Costa said the measures are related to the need for de-progressing tensions in the region, especially in northern Kosovo, and that he hopes the situation will stabilise to enable the removal of them.
“These measures are related to the need to de-tradition tensions in the region and north of the country. And what I want is that as soon as we get this escalation, then we can move forward and get rid of these measures. I hope recent events do not represent a new trend, but to be the exception that confirms the rule that you are fully committed to this European path to de-tradition and, as Mrs. President said yesterday, to engage in this dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina”, Costa said.
The removal of sanctions measures against Kosovo has called for the heads of state./Periscopi/
