Civil society: Procrastination of the Growth Plan endangers Kosovo's credibility as partner

Representatives of civil society, nongovernmental organisations, and activists have voiced concern over the non-insulting of the new legislature, as well as the government following the results of the February 9th elections, while stressing that one of the most serious consequences of this is the impasse in ratifying the Development Plan Agreement. Through a reaction from them, [...]
Through their response, representatives said the plan, supported by the European Union, represents an extraordinary opportunity for economic development and European integration. According to them, procrastination risks not only direct financial benefits, but also Kosovo's credibility as a reliable partner in European processes.
“One of the most significant consequences of not establishing institutions is the impasse in ratifying the Facebook Agreement with the EU. Ratification of this agreement, along with the loan agreement, is key to the 61.8m-euro pre-finance qualifications. This plan envisions the implementation of important reforms for the country's European integration, as well as funding from the EU. Kosovo is earmarked to benefit up to 883m euros for implementing the Reforms Agency”, the statement issued by GLPS said.
Civil society stressed that ratification of the agreement is not only a technical obligation, but a clear political declaration that Kosovo aims at sustainable development and full integration into the European Union.
Civil society representatives have called on the Kosovo Assembly and all MPs to establish public interest and the future of citizens “over narrow political calculations and ratify this agreement as soon as possible”.
“Failure or delay in this process would be a major strategic loss for the country”. /Periscope/
