Renowned brands, including Prada, have interrupted working with the actor amid controversy over his relationship with Kim Sae-ron, who was found dead in February in a suspected suicide case. She was 24.
The 37-year-old actor said she had been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron five years ago, for about a year, but not when she was a minor, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.
He added that an investigative material published on YouTube this month contained false testimony and evidence, including screenshots of messages that, according to him, could not be the actress.
Kim Sae-ron was born in July 2000, and his age in South Korea is 16.
I wasn't in a relationship with the feeling when she was a minor. And it's not even true that she made a tragic choice because I turned my back on”, Kim said during a press conference Monday, referring to claims that their relationship led to the actress's suicide.
Lawyers from Kim Soo-hyun and his agency said on Monday they have indicted people involved in YouTube's material for a total of $8.15m, and have denounced them for slander and violation of the information protection law.
A lawyer representing Kim Sae-ron's relatives was not immediately available for comment.
Kim Sae-ron was one of the most promising actors in South Korea until 2022, when her career was damaged after a scandal in which she had been driving drunk.
Kim Soo-hyun became famous in South Korea and China for his roles in successful Korean serials <x0-Mey Love from the Star” and “Queen of Tears”.
