Police presence increases in East Sarajevo following SIPA's obstruction to arrest Dodik

About 20 members of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Internal Affairs (MPB) were deployed on Thursday, April 24, ahead of the Government's administrative centre of this entity in eastern Sarajevo, a day after the entry of members of the State Agency for Investment and Protection (SIPA) into that building. [...]

As Radio Reporter Free Europe (REL) reports, broadcast PeriscopePolice officers are obstructing access to the building, before which there is a group of journalists, while there is no official confirmation if RS President Milorad Dodik is inside.

The RS president's protocol envisions him participating Thursday at noon in the opening of the University Rectorate building in Eastern Sarajevo, and will then hold a meeting with the heads of the Palle and Sokoc municipalities.

RS MPB police detained the entrance to SIPA members at the East Sarajevo Administrative Centre building at the time Dodik was holding a meeting with representatives of the East Sarajevo City.

SPA confirmed that the members of this agency were aiming to act on a Bosnia and Herzegovina Court order and that there was no force use.

Dodik, together with RS Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister Nenad Stevsa persecuted and Radovan Viskoviq, is suspected of attacking constitutional order, and investigations are being conducted by Bosnia and Herzegovina's Prosecutor since late last year.

In mid-March a central arrest sheet was issued to them in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as they failed to respond to the prosecution's call to submit at a hearing.

Similarly, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina had asked Interpol to reconsider the decision to refuse the request for issuing red warrant for representatives of the RS entity leadership.

In late February, Dodik was sentenced to the first degree by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to one year in prison and six years to ban political activity for disrespecting the high representative's decisions.

A day after the first degree act on Dodik, the RS People's Assembly adopted unconstitutional laws to prevent the functioning of four state institutions in RS. / REL/
