The United States and Turkey are the two allies that have been a great help to Kosovo over the years. So said Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, in the fourth edition of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, on subject “Translation of diplomacy into a world fragmented”.
Osmani, who is staying in Antalya at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan, has talked about the journey of Kosovo from the war onward.
“We are a good example that was raised from zero, from ashes, some things that were completely ruined on earth because of the dictator, because of the regime and genocide, but again our nation is an example of how the world came together and did not close its eyes to the suffering and depression of the people suffering for centuries”, Vjosa Osmani, president of Kosovo, said.
As for recognising Kosovo's independence, Osmani said that after recognising Kenya, the country has launched a new moment for new recognitions, but that it is challenging the propaganda of Serbia and other dictatorial states.
The first state also spoke of dialogue with Serbia and reached agreements.
When we talk about dialogue with Serbia, I reiterated that dialogue is for mutual recognition, so far we have discussed freedom of movement, goods, missing, which Serbia must open its archives from the 1990s in order to find the bodies of missing people, most of whom are children. But, Serbia is proving that it is for dialogue, but only in”, the country's president said.
Osmani reiterated the important role the United States has in dialogue.
I have always asked for US involvement because this shows that in these years dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has continued and the stronger the role of the US, the agreements will be more feasible and if the US is not involved, the process will be weaker”, she added.
During his stay in Turkey, Osmani has also met with Turkish counterpart Recep Tayip Erdogan, who he said is the leader who always stood by Kosovo on any challenge and any success.
She has stressed that Erdogan is a proven friend of Kosovo, a strong voice for our right, and a strong pillar of support on every stage of our statehood.
Osmani has also met Syria's president, Ahmet al-Saraa (Ahmed al Chirau), with whom he has talked about opening new co-operation chapters between the two countries. According to her, Kosovo and Syria share similar wounds, war pain, deportation and the challenge of reconstruction. / Periscope
