Obadiah from Spain: Kosovo is flourishing. It's time for Europe to fully recognise it!

LDK chairman Lumir Abdixhiku addressed European leaders at the opening of the European People's Party Congress (EPP), demanding full recognition of Kosovo by the five non-recognising EU states, including Spain. In a powerful speech, he stressed the country's democratic progress and challenges still stemming from Serbia's aggressive approach. “Kosovo [...]

In a powerful speech, he stressed the country's democratic progress and challenges still stemming from Serbia's aggressive approach.

Kosovo does not seek favors, but offers confidence in democracy, peace and the European dream --” said Abdixhiku, calling for the acceleration of Kosovo's integration into the European Union, writes Periscope.

His complete word:

Ladies and gentlemen,

Honorable delegates, dear friends of the European People's Party,

It is a special honor to stand before you today in the name of the Democratic League of Kosovo a party born of resistance, guided by principles and vision-oriented.

So is my country, the Republic of Kosovo.

Today I speak to you not only as chairman of LDK but also as a citizen of a small country, with a great European dream born in sacrifice, fed in hope and carried forward by one generation, my generation, who believes in building the future through peace, democracy and unity with the West itself.

A quarter century ago, in the darkest times of our history, Europe stood by us. In the late 1990s, when Serbia and the Milosevic regime wage war and aggression against the people of Kosovo, aiming at our ethnic cleansing -- Western democracies, the European Union and NATO -- lined up on our side.

You stayed with us, not for interests of power or territory, but stayed for principles. Kosovo became the country where freedom triumphed over fear and Western solidarity found its moral clarity.

And let me stress this: until today Ukraine faces similar vicious aggression, Kosovo stands once again on the side of those who fight for their right to exist. We know what it means to remain in the dark and what it takes to walk toward the light, hand in hand with friends and allies. Let's hope, and work, that your allies will remain steadfast on the right side of history. Kosovo, stands on the right side of history!

And while my country has moved forward, embracing democracy, building institutions, and bringing every policy with the European spirit we still hold on to an outdated conflict; and along with it, an outdated mentality; that even after 25 years of war, continues to blow on our necks.
In front of us is a neighbor who refuses to change; who continues to be caught by the past, who denies the truth, who promotes hate, who protects and houses all those who threaten peace; a neighbor who continues to deny our right to exist.

But let it be clear:

Not only do we exist.

The Republic of Kosovo is flourishing!

As a sovereign state, as a functional democracy and as a society aimed at full European integration, we are moving forward and will not stop.

We have a moral and democratic obligation for new generations to provide them with a future of peace and prosperity. And that future is in Europe, along with nations that share the same values and ideals with us.

So again, I call on Europe:

Stay with us.

Help to advance this joint mission.

This our battle, is not only the challenge of Kosovo, it is also of our continent. Any attempt to delay Kosovo's European path is, in essence, a challenge to the idea of a united, free and complete Europe.

For the few states that have not yet recognised Kosovo's independence, 25 years have passed. That's enough. We have won our country through reform, through endurance, and through firm faith on the European road.

I also want to extend my appeal to our region as a whole. The Western Balkans should no longer remain Europe's unfinished issue. We don't want to see you as the back yard. We are equal partners ready to contribute, ready to build and ready to fit.

Fighting for the Western Balkans, you and us together, fighting for Europe! And we have to fight for Europe what we always believe in.

Because that's our home.

It's our future.

This year, more than ever, it has become clear to us that Europe needs unity and stability. And we will either stick together to realize the European dream for all nations of this continent, or face the risk of division and loss of global importance.

We, as the youngest country in Europe, have made our choice. Now, you founders of this dream you must reaffirm yours.

Remember: The European Union was born from the grace of war, shaped by courage and guided by visionarys who believed in something greater than themselves.

It is time to rebuild this dream and, above all, restore that courage to Europe's defense, the unification of Europe.

Kosovo stands before you today, not as a country seeking favors, but as a partner offering something powerful -- it offers confidence!

Faith in democracy.
Faith in peace.
And faith in the eternal idea of Europe.
Thank you.
God bless him. EPP!
