Pakistan on Thursday cancelled all Indian citizens' visas, closed its airspace to all Indian-owned or operated airline companies, and suspended all trade with the neighbouring country, including what is accomplished through third countries.
Revenge measures come after India's decision to suspend Pakistani citizens' visas following a deadly attack by armed men in Kasmir, where 26 people, mainly tourists, were killed, reports the news agency. Associated Press, broadcast Periscope.
Tensions between India and Pakistan were high Thursday, while New Delhi was conducting a diplomatic offensive against Islamabad, blaming him for the attack in Kashmir. This case conflicts with India's claim for calm in a contested region, where bloody rebellion against Indian power has been continuing for decades.
The attack on civilians terrified India and prompted calls for action against its rival neighbour. The Indian government did not publicly present any evidence linking this attack to Pakistan, but said the case has links “to the border” with Pakistan. Pakistan has denied that there is any connection to the attack.
The responsibility for this attack was claimed by a group that was so far unknown. The group calls itself Kashmir's Resistance.
In a statement issued Thursday, India's Foreign Ministry said all visas issued to Pakistani citizens would be effectively abolished by Sunday. This ministry also advised Indian citizens not to travel to Pakistan.
India and Pakistan manage from a part of Kashmir, but both countries claim the entire region is theirs. India describes the entire militaristism in Kasmir as Pakistan-backed terrorism, which denies this. /Periscope/
