TopChannel's full response without interference:
During today's direct evening broadcast in the Big Brother Albania format, an unacceptable act of violence occurred, where one of the eliminated competitors physically attacked another at the moment of exit. This action was broadcast in real time and attended by a broad national public.
Top Channel firmly condemns any form of violence and re-exemplifies its commitment to higher standards of professional ethics, public responsibility and safe communication. Big Brother Albania is a fun form that promotes play, spontaneousness and emotion but never violence. This incident is in stark conflict with the spirit of the program and with the fundamental principles on which our TV platform works.
Production has had no information, signal, or tissue that could lead to such a behavior's prediction. The event took place unexpectedly, without any dialogue-related provocation, and it's deeply punishable. While reality - style television forms may contain unexpected and tension, boundaries are clear and non-negotiable and violence is not tolerated under any circumstances.
After the incident, show host Ledion Lico reacted directly with a statement to the public:
A violent, unacceptable, and deeply disturbing act occurred at a moment that should be the end of an experience, not the start of such a reaction. This behavior does not represent the values of the Top Channel, nor those of the Big Brother Albania. ”
This incident was not organised, motivated or predictable by production. The reality of a live form is unexpected, but it never justifys violence. ”
Immediately after the event, the responsible person has been eventually excluded from any further involvement in the programme and accompanied by relevant authorities in the commissioners, where legal procedures are being followed in line with legislation in force. Security and transmission protocols are under way in full review, and any necessary measures will be undertaken to ensure that such situations will not be repeated in the future.
Top Channel reports it will continue to co-operate closely with responsible institutions and will keep the public informed of any further development. The integrity of content, the safety of participants and respect for the audience remain fundamental principles of the work of this media institution.
