The Albanian-American Relations Council (AARC) and the American Economic Oda in Kosovo voice their “deep concern” over the delay in the constitution and formation of a new government after the February 9th elections. “at a time when Kosovo faces critical challenges and opportunities ) both inside and abroad. At a time when Kosovo faces critical challenges and opportunities both at home and abroad, such institutional stagnation undermines democratic stability, economic development and the country's credibility on the global stage”, it is said in response, broadcasts Periscope.
AARC and American Oda call for emergency and responsibility to create fully functional institutions.
The protracted “Vakuum in governance sends disturbing signals to international allies and weakens Kosovo's position in vital geopolitical developments. These delays risk further driving Kosovo's citizens away, while encouraging its opponents”, it is said further in response.
The American “Oda and AARC call for the creation of a Strategic Economic Partnership between Kosovo and the United States. This formal framework should improve bilateral co-operation in key sectors, including facilitating investments, export development, transition of energy, digital transformation and innovation. Trusted in common democratic values, such a partnership would promote American investments, deepen industrial ties and help integrate Kosovo into the chains of global value”, said the response of the American Oda and AARC.
Both organisations also stress the importance of quick addressing key policy decisions, including removing customs duties for American goods.
The removal of these barriers would demonstrate Kosovo's commitment to a fair and open economic environment”.
The elected MPs will gather on April 19th today in a third attempt at constitutionalising Kosovo's 9th Parliament legislature.
