Turkey launches construction of 8.5km wall on western border with Greece

Sezer said at a news conference that Turkey will continue to build the border wall in line with further developments in the situation, writes Turkish newspaper Duvar, Euronews.
Edirne's mayor stressed that local government in last September built 325km of roads along the border with Greece and that works on the construction of electro-optic pillars have continued this year, as well as other measures for border protection with the support of interior and defence ministries.
Greece has increased border controls along its land and maritime border with Turkey following a 7.8-strong earthquake in 2023 due to a new wave of expected arrivals of displaced residents, Guardian reported.
