In the 2021 campaign for parliamentary elections, Albin Kurti had promised the closure of the Kosovo Privatisation Agency (AKP). For four full years ruling leader of Movement “Vetevendosje” The AKP is not closed, but has continued with the process of liquidating dozens of social companies in the country.
The AKP board has announced the competition for the election of the AKP executive director with a 4-year term, with competition cases being open from January 28th-26 February 2025.
If the AKP director's election process goes according to plan, the latter will receive a four-year contract before the new Kosovo Government is formed, as it has not yet completed the number of votes held in early February 2025.
Ferat Shala from the PDK, who in the latest legislature has led the Commission for Economics, the businessman of Trade, said the AKP will not close, as Prime Minister Albin Kurti has promised.
The opening of competitions for directors of this agency, according to Shala, are taking place for party and political interests.
“They plan to shut down the AKP, but they are continuing to sell assets with a control system on political levels. Even the new director who sometimes competes until he meets the criteria, one of their favourite political candidates”, Shala said.
Shala accused Kurtiʹ of fraud over the AKP's closure.
According to him, during the four years of current governance, this agency has only employed militants from the ruling party.
The government has deceived the opinion with the AKP's closure. It has continued the same work to continue selling assets and liquidating them, nothing has changed except employing VV militants. The bad news about the economy is that AKP assets have not been functional in conflict with economic development”, Shala says.
