US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced today that the American Army, as part of a successful anti-terrorism operation, in collaboration with allies in El Salvador, has transferred to that country a group of 17 violent criminals from the Tren de Aragu and MS-13 gangs, including, as he said, assassins and rapists.
As State Department announced, President Donald Trump, in the interest of American citizens' security, has named the Tren de Aragu and MS-13 as foreign terrorist organisations, follows Periscope.
The statement added that these criminals “will no longer terrorise American citizens”.
“Once again, we express our gratitude to President Najib Bukele and El Salvador's government for their extraordinary partnership that aims to keep our countries safe from crime and transnational terrorism”, Rubio said.
American media reported earlier that El Salvador had accepted hundreds of members of the Venezuelan gang, who were deported from the US to live there illegally.
Bukele announced on the X platform in mid-March that the first 238 members of the Venezuelan criminal organisation have arrived in the country.
