Japanese report: We may be hit by a magnitude nine earthquake, about 300 thousand casualties

Japan can be affected by a great and frightening earthquake. He could kill up to 300 grand. Thus, it is emphasized in a report made public by experts and the Japanese government. The “large earthquake” could hit the urbanized Pacific coast, create 12.3 million evacuated and cause 1.8 [...]
The report focuses on a worst-case scenario about the destruction that could be caused by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake in a 900km ocean deep where tectonic plates known as Nankai Valley are crosscrossed Periscope.
Disaster planners based their predictions on an earthquake and accompanying tsunami that would strike much of Japan's coastline in western Tokyo.
The report notes that the megamermet that struck with the same force that destroyed Japan's northeast coast in March 2011 would again cause major collapses of buildings, tsunamis and fires.
The greatest damage and the greatest loss of life and property would occur if the earthquake struck on a winter evening, a time when large numbers of people would either be in public transportation and stations, or they would cook and warm up in fire - threatening wooden homes.
The death toll under these circumstances could reach 298,000. Economic damage from the direct destruction of buildings and infrastructure, combined with the wider disruption, would amount to $1.8 trillion, equivalent to approximately half of the country's annual GDP, the report notes.
The death toll of the worst cases is lower than the 330,000 estimated in the previous version of the report 10 years ago, a drop dedicated largely to strengthening buildings, developing mobile-based warning systems and better readiness of the general government. (A2 Television)
