The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MKRS) has suspended procurement procedures for the construction and renovation project of the Gjilan Stadium, just days after the winning company was announced with a bid of over 12.7m euros.

According to the official announcement by the MKRS Procurement Office, the suspension has been made in line with the Law for Public Procurement of the Republic of Kosovo, which envisions the further ban on procurement activities in cases where there are complaints from the participating operators in the race.
The tender included construction work and reconstruction of the Gjilan Stadium in order to meet the criteria of UEFA's IV Categoria. It was one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Kosovo sport, with the aim of ensuring better conditions for the development of national and international competitions.
After the winner's proclamation, however, several economic operators filed official complaints, seeking review of the process. According to the rules of procurement, MKRS has been forced to temporarily ban any action until the review and resolution of these requirements, Telegrafi reports, broadcast Periscope
The MKRS's announcement reportedly will inform the parties interested in any future decision. The process may continue if complaints are refused, but if irregularities are found, there may be resurfaces of the tender or changes in contract conditions.
The tender's suspension has triggered different reactions in public opinion and in sports circles, raising questions about transparency and efficiency of procurements in major infrastructure projects in the country.
The process will remain to be seen, and if the Gjilan Stadium will soon begin its long - awaited transformation.
