Bosnian prosecutors issue warrants for Milorad Dodik's arrest

Bosnia and Herzegovina prosecutors ordered on Wednesday the arrest of Bosnian Serb leaders, who are backed by Russia, Milorad Dodik and his supporters, for disobeying a court submission order. The decision could raise the threat to the stability of this Balkan country. The order comes two weeks after Milorad Dodik was sentenced to one [...]
The order comes two weeks after Milorad Dodik was sentenced to one year in prison for rejecting the decisions of an international envoy for peace, said a spokesman for the state security agency, SIPA.
Prosecutors have sought the assistance of the Bosnian State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) for his arrest.
However, it is not clear whether Mr. Dodik's arrest is anticipated or simply the implementation of the order to appear in court.
The State Prosecutor's Office was investigating Milorad Dodik, the pro-Russian nationalist president of Republika Srpska, for attacking constitutional order, as he launched a process of adopting laws barring the judiciary and police from implementing the decision to sentence him.
We have received a request from Bosnia and Herzegovina's judicial police to help them”, SIPA spokeswoman Jelena Miovcic said.
Republika Srpska Television, citing regional government, reported that the state prosecution has also ordered the arrest of Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic and Regional Parliament President Nenad Stevandic for ignoring the court's request for forced submission on the issue of attack on constitutional order, reports VOA, broadcast Periscope.
Republika Srpska is one of the two entities established to end the 1992-95 war, during which over 100,000 people were killed in multiethnic Bosnia.
They are bound by a weak central government in a state supervised by an international authority to stem its return to the conflict.
