Full response:
AGK concerned with measures on RTK editors
The Association of Kosovo Journalists AGK expresses great concern after confirming the sentence of the three editors of the Public Broadcasting, RTK, on the part of the Director of Television, Relind Gervalla.
Jehona Dzitia, Valon Bajrami and Arton Mulliki have been convicted because of non-transmitting at the late edition of a chronic news edition of the Government and Prime Minister Kurti. One of the editors has confirmed that this specified chronice “has not met professional standards”, and as such has been broadcast, adding that it is the first time such a thing happens in RTK.
The AGK considers this punishment brutal and unacceptable. Public broadcaster editors should have full independence to make editorial decisions, as they see fit.
Such intervention is completely political and the continuation of the ruling party's tendency, Vetevendosje, to exercise total control over RTK. This is being done through director Gervala, a former activist and donor of this political party.
The AGK encourages all journalists and editors of the Public Broadcasting to continue their work in public interest despite obstacles and pressures.
