President Donald Trump has unexpectedly dismissed Chief of the General Staff General CQ Brown, thus removing a respected pilot and officer, in the framework of moves to remove from the armed forces' leadership structures military leaders who support the movement for equality and diversity in their ranks.
The departure of General Brown, who was the second chief of staff of African-American descent, seems to be going to feel all over the Pentagon. His 16 months in office were accompanied by war in Ukraine and the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East.
I want to thank General Charles. CQ: Brown for over 40 years of his service for our country, including as the current chief of general staff. He is a good gentleman and a distinguished leader, and I wish him and his family a great future”, wrote President Trump on social media.
President Trump said he will propose General Dan “Razin” Caine, also from the Air Force, to become the next chief of general staff.
President Trump took this step despite strong support for General Brown among the key lawmakers and a meeting that appeared to be friendly mid-December, when they sat next to each other during the American football game between the Army and the Navy. General Brown regularly met with Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, who took over the Pentagon just four weeks ago. / VOA/
