This witness confirmed he is the son of Rexhep Selimi's uncle and today at The Hague is being represented by lawyer Artan Qerinani, who sought assurances for his client under the 151 procedure and evidencerate “Justice Vow bet”.
“You have the guarantees that are predicted. It means you won't be prosecuted. If you give evidence, you will have this testimony as we have it now that the testimony will be given in public in the sense that you can be pursued beyond the court. However, you have the right to give your testimony by closed doors that mean they're going to put down the curtains and no one will listen to you”, the chief judge said.
Prosecutor Matt Halling had no objections as to the guarantees offered to the witness.
The protection given to you through guarantees is that this court will not prosecute or issue any information you give us for other sides. However, when you give a witness in public, this information you're going to give belongs to the public that everyone listens to”, the chief judge said.
Asked how he will testify, the witness said he wants to testify at the public hearing.
Afterwards, the chief judge announced that after the guarantees were given, and in case the witness refuses to testify, it would be sanctioned with the establishment of a fine. As a result, guarantees were approved for the witness.
According to the chief judge, the testimony of this witness is expected to last about four days. The prosecution estimates it takes five hours for questioning. While, defence teams need 14 to 16 hours for questioning.
