First Stairway Special Court Takes Decision for Mayor Erion Veliaj

Albania's First Scale Special Court for Corruption and Organised Crime (GJKKO), following a several-hour session, has enabled the <x1-> prison arrest measure” for Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj. A report by the GGKKO says that the continuation of the measure [...] has been imposed at today's session.
A report by the JGKKO is said to be continuing the security measure “in prison” for Mayor Veliaj, broadcasting Anadolu.
For Veliaj's wife, Ayla Xoxa, the court has changed the measure from <x0 house arrest” to “halting exit” and “due to be submitted to judicial police”.
On the basis of this investigation, measures have been continued against a businessman to arrest “in prison” and to some other businessmen, and measures “due to be submitted to the” judicial police.
According to the JCKKO, against today's ruling, there may be complaints at the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organised Crime.
Meanwhile, during the arrival of Veliaj and his wife in court and during the hearing, dozens of Tirana mayor's supporters gathered in front of the JKKO facilities, in sign of solidarity with him.
Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj has been arrested on 10 February, suspected of corruption and money laundering, while his wife, Ayla Xoxa, is suspected of corruption, money laundering and false property statements.

Veliaj is mayor of Tirana since 2015, meanwhile, has also held office in the Government of Albania, as well as an MP.
