The chairman of the KLA War Veterans' Organisation, Hysni Gucati, said they do not boycott the Independence Festival, but stressed that they have not participated in the Organising Council for marking this 17th anniversary of citizenship.
He wished February 17th to all families of martyrs, disabled and veterans, while also mentioning former KLA leaders being tried at The Hague.
This day, February 17th, first I want to congratulate the families of the martyrs, the disabled and the veterans, but also the friends we have at The Hague. One who was protagonist, Mr. Thaci and missing, we are not feeling well today nor happy. Emotions are great knowing we have in prison, the Jakup Basca, Reg and Kadrine. This day does not brag about being cut short without those men. We have boycotted the Organising Council, as we have fought for this day of ours to be free. We haven't boycotted the party. That's a big lie who think the veterans' organisation has boycotted the party. That is not true”, he said.
KLA Family Association Chairman Xhavit Jashari said Kurti has not been co-operative with veterans, despite their willingness to do so.
And since the arrival of this government of Albin Kurt, we've offered cooperation, but it's been his readiness, and at no time, and at no time are we the ones not approaching institutions. It's not us who run out of cooperation, but we're for cooperation. In this case I want to ask him a few questions. We all know they feel proud, but how do those who have cooperated with the Serbian List and criminal Radojic feel about hitting veterans? How do they feel about the campaign coming to this country that every time was a hearth of fire for freedom of country and raised three fingers? And at a time when all activities are suspended because of a tragic accident where three citizens died. This party comes in and raises three fingers and provokes citizens to the Square of Adem Jashari? How do those who have deposited and handed over to the Special Court all those false to Kosovo Liberation Army leaders feel? Of course, today we are physically missing Hashim Thaci, who has read the Declaration of Independence, where today we celebrate the 17th anniversary of the declaration of state.
