President Volodymyr Zelensky in 2023 came up with an unprecedented ambition in war history: Ukraine to secure one million fears FPV in 2024.

The announcement, which followed the disappointments in the battlefield and delays in the shipments of American weapons, postponed this unusual new arms class in the face of Ukraine's survival efforts and reformed modern warfare along the way.

Drons have been combined with the modern armed conflict for years before Russian President Vladimir Putin launched aggression in Ukraine in 2022.

But no previous conflict has involved such intense use of fears in so many forms or roles, writes New York Times.

After Ukraine overcame Russian advances and fighting moved to the holes, destructive qualities and economic benefits of weapons were understood with fear.

Ukraine initially used mainly models of the Mvic line produced by the Chinese company DJI.

They originate with the fears of radio - controlled toys of previous generations, but improved with small cameras, GPS sensors, flying applications that are easily learned and batteries that refuel.

Hard and relatively cheap, they weighed less than a kilo and accompanied by laptops made them suitable for combat use.

In contrast with many, they can be held by hand and released from everywhere, sends a photograph.

After Russia launched military aggression, Ukrainian units quickly purchased detection fears, co-ordination of fire support, and bombing.

Among them was the unit led by new Commander Yuri Fedorenko.

In April 2022, a scout working in the pre-war film industry joined the unit and brought with him his fears, Mavic.

With the help of a drone, Fedorenko soon arranged for Ukrainian artillery to hit a Russian gas station.

After seeing enemies through the digital eye of a cheap cadre, he realized that standard personal weapons were not enough.

Ukraine began experimenting with another fear class FPV.

They were guided by pilots wearing glasses and were showing live videos.

Quick, powerful, and cheaper than Mavic, they drew attention in the middle of 2022.

Ukraine thus began to use various weapons from what the armies of the world had seen earlier.

Drons The FPV combined antitank missiles, mortar range, and sniper fire accuracy with an additional feature of air readiness.

Now they had weapons that could fly horizontally or vertically, change speed or direction, stop in the air, go to the corners, and slide through windows and other places.

If you are afraid FPV would fly above the target, which would be a mistake for any other weapon, he could turn around and try again.

All of this was broadcasting a video of his victim in panic.

The FPV trees were not capable of quick fire, but on large scale they stopped Russian attacks, exploded in the holes, found artillery and supplies behind enemy lines.

In Fedorenko's unit alone, the drones killed 210 mercenaries from the private Wagner military company, injured 360 others and destroyed 23 self - moving obus and other heavy equipment.

In last autumn, Ukraine had a new branch of armed forces dedicated exclusively to non-pilot weapons, and Fedorenko's company had grown into a battalion of 500 soldiers.

In October, Zelensky announced that Ukraine had achieved its goal for a million fears several months before the deadline and could now produce up to four million.
