Tragic accident in Mitrovica magistrate Peja, all known so far

Three people have remained dead, and five others have been injured, out of them four police officials Sunday in a traffic accident on the Mitrovica-Peaj regional road, in the road segment in the village of Cubrell in Scikyright

Kosovo police have reported that two cars were involved in the accident, one of which was the official police car.

Police units have emerged at the scene, while regional road traffic investigators are dealing with the case.

“Around 18:40 p.m., it was reported for fatal traffic accident with consequences, which took place on the regional Mitrovica-Peje road, the road segment in the village of Cubrell of Sculerwright. Two cars, one of them an official police car, were involved. As a result of the accident, three civilian lives have been lost based on information provided, as many as five others, four of them police officials, have suffered injuries. Police units and management staff have been taken to the scene, while investigations and causes of the accident are being taken by investigators of the regional road traffic unit”, police reports.

Peja Mayor Gazmend Muharnier has confirmed that the three members of the Gashi family who died in the Storm at Scibayre, are from Peja.

Mujarrier said that “this is a great loss for our city and a moment of deep grief for all of us”.

He expresses sincere condolences to the Gashi family and their relatives.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who has expressed comfort to the victims' families, has also reacted to the serious accident, while hurting as soon as possible.

“Lami for the traffic accident where 3 people lost their lives on the regional Mitrovica-Pej road gives us great pain. I want to express my heartfelt condolences about this sad event by addressing the victims' families and hoping to have the strength to cope with their loss. At the same time, I wish to heal as easily and as quickly as possible for the 5 injured in this accident,” Kurti said.

He added that relevant authorities are working to secure a full mirror of the case and called for increased caution in traffic.

I consider that very soon we will have an even more complete mirror in the case, while I take steps to call for general care in automation to avoid as many disasters as we can, Kurti wrote on Facebook.

Glauk Konjufca, also expressed his condolences about the deaths of three.
