The quake, which had a anchor on the shores of the Aegean Sea, was felt in several cities, including Canakkala, Izmir and Balicsir, but also on Greek islands.
The quake was reported to be 6,62 miles [6,62 km] from Ayvac, a neighborhood in Canakkala, and it occurred at a depth of 8,65 miles [8,65 km]. Local authorities have not reported major damage or casualties.
Local officials and AFAD teams are monitoring the situation closely and are ready to respond in case of possible emergencies. They are also maintaining any possible effects of seismic swings.
