Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, shook the Albanian country and wider when he said it would block TikTok for a year.
All after a tragic event involving the murder of a 14-year-old and the support for crime in videos posted on this platform, Klankosova.tv broadcasts.
In a recent proposal for Politico, Rama stressed that this decision was not provoked by a single incident, but was an answer to a very disturbing “model” of conduct in TikTok.
He added that the move is in line with the wishes of most parents and is part of a broader plan to boost security in schools.
” Freedom of expression and possibilities for marketing will not disappear without TikTok”, Rama told Politico, among other things.
Meanwhile, the European Commission has expressed concern about this decision and is monitoring Albania's EU membership process, praising whether it is in line with freedom of expression standards and civil rights.
