Mulino expects Trump to take office on January 20th before taking any action.
Baladares said Mulino told him this during a meeting Wednesday at the presidential palace, where Latin American leaders met with Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez, Politico reported.
Trump said on Tuesday he does not rule out using the Panama Canal military force, which the US gave Panama a quarter century ago.
In recent weeks, Trump has claimed that Chinese soldiers allegedly control the Panama Canal, which is operated by the Panama Canal Independent Authority.
Trump also complained about transit fees paid by American ships and threatened to regain control of the Panama Canal.
Mulino said last month that the Panama Canal will remain Panama territory. /euronews
